volunteers awards

On February 23rd many actors, ushers, set builders and all other volunteers gathered at The Lofte for our Annual Meeting and Volunteer Recognition Event! Kevin Colbert announced his picks for the 2021 season, (though nothing is set in stone until contracts can be signed with script companies) we took a look back on the 2019 season, looked forward to the 2020 season, recognized our Outstanding Volunteers of the Year, and had our Lofte Oscars! Here are the Outstanding Volunteers for 2020

Outstanding Usher - Kelli Brewer (not pictured)
Outstanding Behind the Scenes Volunteer - Maureen Wardian (right)
Outstanding Overall Volunteers - Tami (left) and Michael Kruger (not pictured)
And the special Lofte Legacy Award was awarded to Margie Pinkerton and was accepted on her behalf by her husband, Bob.

Thanks again to all of our amazing volunteers who helped us out in 2019 and to everyone who came out for the annual meeting. We look forward to seeing you all in the new year and at next year's annual meeting!

COVID-19 Situational Update

As of February 27, 2020, there were 78,497 reported cases in China and 3,797 cases in locations outside China. In addition to sustained transmission in China, there is evidence of community spread in several additional countries. CDC has updated travel guidance to reflect this information

To date, there has been limited spread of COVID-19 in the United States. As of February 26, 2020, there were a total of 61 cases within the United States, 46 of these were among repatriated persons from high-risk settings. The other 15 cases were diagnosed in the United States; 12 were persons with a history of recent travel in China and 2 were persons in close household contact with a COVID-19 patient (i.e. person-to-person spread). One patient with COVID-19 who had no travel history or links to other known cases was reported on February 26, 2020, in California. The California Department of Public Health, local health departments, clinicians, and CDC are working together to investigate this case and are identifying contacts with whom this individual interacted.

On February 26th the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services distributed a news release across the state asking Nebraskans with travel in the past 14 days to countries with community transmission of COVID-19 to contact their local health departments (http://dhhs.ne.gov/Pages/DHHS-Asking-Nebraskans-With-Travel-in-Past-14-Days-to-Countries-With-Community-Transmission-of-COVID-19-to-Contact-Local-HD.aspx). SCHD along with State and Federal partners are implementing measure, such as self-reporting to local health departments, to slow and contain transmission of COVID-19 in the U.S. SCHD is assessing, monitoring and providing guidance to travelers arriving from these areas.

If confirmed cases should arise, SCHD has systems in place to track and monitor individuals whom have come in contact with the confirmed cases to help identify secondary cases and minimize the potential for ongoing, undetected, person-to-person transmission.

We are continuing to encourage all our community partners (i.e. County and City offices, schools, businesses, etc.) to take action now to be prepared for the possibility of community spread of COVID-19. We have suggested that all businesses review and update their pandemic flu plans and/or continuity of operations plans. Additionally, we are encouraging partners to begin to think about non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) that could be implemented to help slow the spread of illness.

More information for businesses can be found on the CDC website at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/specific-groups/guidance-business-response.html.

More information on non-pharmaceutical interventions can be found on the CDC website at https://www.cdc.gov/nonpharmaceutical-interventions/index.html
